A little bit about us...

Hello and welcome to our little corner of the internet! ☕️

Tea Time Rattery was established in October of 2019 and has been a passion project ever since. Initially breeding for our own goals and eventually joining the NFRS and moving into the showing world in 2023.

After almost a decade of keeping rats as pets, my husband and I started producing fancy rats as a hobby. Originally based on the south coast of England.

In March of 2022, just before the birth of our second child, we moved back to my home county of Buckinghamshire and started working with other small furries and poultry in addition to our rattery.
We base ourselves out of a 10-acre working equestrian facility on the beautiful county borders of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, in the heart of the Chilterns (approx. 40 miles from central London, 15 miles from Oxford, and 90 miles from Birmingham).

My name is Ellie and I am the main proprietor, treat slave, and cleaner outer for the rats (and other animals), as well as their personal photographer and PR manager (I take their pictures and play match maker for their new homes).

My heritage in farming and agriculture in the counties of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire spans from the 16th century, and the rattery is one branch of our "homestead".

As a family with small children, it is paramount to us that they can be involved with the husbandry of our animals, this is not possible without friendly temperaments.
We prioritise temperament, type, conformation, and health in our rats. We believe all of these elements are equally important for every rat born here for a good quality of life.

We do not, never have, and never will actively breed any animals specifically for the pet trade, rather we breed for our own goals and what we want to put on the show bench.

Excess stock that are suitable to be rehomed are offered as such to successful applicants.
